A John Deere 7920 mechanical front-wheel-drive tractor on offer from Peter Hood Machinery, Meningie, gets my vote for this week's Machine of the Week listed in the AgTrader pages.
According to dealer principal, Peter Hood, being fully specified and with just 2800 hours on the clock and in immaculate condition, it is a tractor that is suitable for a machine buyer wanting to upgrade at a very reasonable price.
"We sold it in 2004 and have serviced it since new and traded it when the owner upgraded to a higher horsepower unit," Mr Hood said.
"Power for the 7920 tractor comes from a JD 'Power Tech' emissions-certified six-cylinder 8.1L diesel that incorporates a fuel-saving full electronic engine management system together with an injection system that operates independently of the engine RPM.
"Drive comes via Deere's Infinitely Variable Transmission transmission which is controlled through the in-cabin Command ARM that allows tractor speeds from 50 metres an hour up to 40 kilometres/hour with the touch of a button.
"The IVT transmission also includes a left-hand reverser control".
Mr Hood said the 7920 was fitted with 20.8R42 dual rear tyres and 16.9R30 singles on the front.
"The tractor is fitted with a heavy-duty front axle system that incorporates a Triple Link Suspension system and wet disk brakes.
"It is also fitted with front weights.
"Upfront it features a sculptured frame design that allows the front wheels to tuck under the tractor to give a greatly reduced turning radius at narrow tread settings which is ideal for up and back working".
Mr Hood said other features of the 7920 tractor included front fenders, a Walterscheid three-point-linkage, hydraulic return power beyond kit, three remote outlets, ground radar and field vision extension head lights.
"It also features a CommandView cabin and sloping front hood for greater forward visibility," he said.
