Tractor tops EP sale

11 Mar, 2010 03:00 AM
A JOHN Deere 9100 tractor with 3300 hours of drive-time was the big-ticket item, making $84,000 at Donald and John Schumann's reacent clearing sale at Darke Peak.

The brothers, who have leased out their property, offered a wide range of plant and machinery.

The 90 registered bidders included mostly local support.

Auctioneer Elders Cleve branch manager Braydn Sampson said the crowd was smaller than normal, but there was reasonable competition.

"There was spirited bidding on most items, but it was harder to sell the bigger machinery," he said.

A Case 2366 header and John Deere 7820 tractor with front-end loader failed to sell and are now available for private sale.

The second-highest-price item was a Sonic 500 boomspray, making $44,000.

A Simplicity 9000 airseeder sold for $41,000, and a Volvo truck made $12,000.

A hay baler made $1100, while field bins fetched between $1700 and $3200.
