WITH warm soils following many weeks of sunny weather, the first rains of the year will produce an abundance of unwanted weed growth that will need controlling before the new cropping season starts in earnest.
This week's Ag Trader pages list a big range of spray machines that include most brands, models and sizes that are self-propelled, trailing, linkage and vehicle mounted.
For buyers it is a real smorgasbord selection at prices to suit most purses.
At Maitland, J&D Southwood Pty Ltd is offering a six-year-old 5030 model Goldacres sprayer at $57,200, including GST.
Dealership spokesman Steve Thomas says it is an ideal unit for someone looking for a second sprayer or wanting to upgrade to a bigger machine.
"It is a one-owner, fully equipped machine that is ready to go to work," he said.
"It is fitted with a 5000-litre tank and a 30-metre half aluminium boom fitted single 03 low pressure air induction nozzles."
Other features include 18.4x38 Gripster tyres on an adjustable width tracking axle and a three section Raven 440 auto-rate controller.
The sprayer is fitted with a 160 litres/min 540 PTO drive pump, micromatic fittings, double side foam markers, chemical hopper and transfer and a flush tank.
It is fitted with taillights and an 'over width' sign for road travelling.
Mr Thomas said the sprayer was traded when the owner upgraded to a Hardi 7036 Commander unit.
