WITH only limited demonstration use, a Morris Contour seeding rig on offer this week by WD Lewis & Co, Karoonda, presents a potential buyer with the opportunity of upgrading to no-till cropping practices at a reduced price.
According to dealer principal Roger Size, it is in new condition and is being offered with a new machine full warranty.
It was a "complete ready-to-go sowing rig".
"It is a 14.3-metre cultivating cum-seeding bar on 309-millimetre spacings rigged for single-shoot sowing and is being offered complete with a Morris 8240 in-between tow aircart," he said.
The big feature of the Morris Contour drill system with its independent contour openers was the parallel linkage used for accurate seed and fertiliser placement.
"Each opener moves independently of the frame and of each other to closely follow the contour of the land," Mr size said.
"A true parallelogram linkage maintains a constant opener-angle relative to the soil and constant opener depth in relation to the packer-wheel throughout its range of travel.
"This single shank design of the Contour Drill has a lower draft requirement than most air-hoe drills and disc drills, resulting in lower power requirements and fuel savings.
"It also provides superior trash clearance as compared to other air hoe drills on the market.
"A double-acting hydraulic cylinder raises and lowers the opener from working to transport position."
Mr Size said the drill worked equally well in all soil conditions, including stony soils.
