WITH harvest under way in some districts, farmers generally would not be thinking about sprayers, but the big tip is there are some real bargains on offer right now.
One such machine listed in this week's AgTrader is a Hardi Navigator 3524 unit at Goldinna Trading, Wudinna.
Priced at $18,000 plus GST, it gets our tick for the Machine of the Week.
Dealer principal Tim Reichstein says the unit is fully-equipped and ready to go.
It features a 3500-litre tank, 24-metre, three-section hydraulic lift-and-fold Eagle booms, and is mounted on 18.4x30 single tyres.
The sprayer is also equipped with a Hard 2500 controller, a Quikmix hopper and a 300-litre flush tank.
Mr Reichstein says the sprayer is expected it sell quickly.
When Hardi released its Navigator sprayer in the mid-to-late 1990s, many people thought it was a down-rated, featureless unit to play second fiddle to the company's premium Commander model.
Nothing could have been further from the truth.
It was a feature-studded sprayer in its own right and many hundreds of units were sold across the nation.
The Navigator was a fully-fledged sprayer designed and built along the same lines as its big brother Commander.
It was built with a modular chassis to enable later changes.
The Navigator was originally released with tank capacities of between 2000L and 3200L and widths to 20m.
As demand for the model grew, so did the specifications of the unit.
Tank capacity was increased to 3500L and boom widths pushed out 24m.
On its release, the Navigator was offered with a choice of Falcon or Eagle booms, with the Eagle booms proving to be the most popular.
Standard equipment on the Navigator included an EVC-3 electric controller for sectional boom control without changing pressure, Hardimatic valve control for constant application rates despite speed variations, a Hardi dry-sump diaphragm pump top-mounted suction filter for safe inspection and cleaning without chemical loss and twin venturi priority pressure agitation.
