THE Suffolk breed continued its resurgence with a total clearance and three-state bidding action at the Letts sale last week at Tintinara.
It was the second ram and ewe sale at Southrose since the Gunner and Ashby families formed a partnership to grow the success of the Letts stud.
In the breakdown all 62 rams sold to a $852 average, and 16 of the 19 ewe lambs, 2007 drop ewes and older ET donor ewes averaged $281.
Despite the average being back $89 on last year, there were plenty of high prices in the top end of the catalogue.
Lameroo stud breeder Allan Gum, Lowan Hill stud outlasted strong competition to secure the $2900 top priced ram.
Adrian and Elizabeth Webster from Cuballing, Western Australia who bought the 2008 top priced ram, were back to further their stud, and selected the opening lot for $2200.
Southern Prime helped underpin the sale's success, buying 17 rams between $500 and $1000, while KF&CA&PW O'Driscoll, Lameroo, took home six rams for a $933 average.
The $500 top price ewe lamb was also snapped up by the Webster family, while the volume ewe buyer was Elders Naracoorte's Nick Harton, who bought seven of these ewes for Allister Barr from Goulburn, New South Wales.
