MERINO wether lambs sold well at the Nhill, Victoria, annual Merino and first-cross lamb sale on Thursday last week.
Altogether, 3000 wether lambs, from the 5000 lambs yarded, sold from $62 to $73.50.
Driscoll, McIllree & Dickinson property & real estate manager Joanne Hiscock said a large crowd of active buyers, strong local competition from restockers and one active meat buyer strong on Merino wether lambs kept prices at "particularly good rates".
She said the sale had a good yarding of locally bred wethers and ewes.
Border Leicester-Merino ewe lambs made $110-$130.
The top price pen of ewes was sold by RN&MD Clark, Telopea Downs, Vic, with a line of 169 first-cross ewe lambs sold to S Kyle Livestock.
They also sold the top price Merino wether lambs to Elders Ouyen, Vic, at $73.50.
Merino ewe lambs made $100-$130.
The equal top price pen of the day was from the Wattlegrove Family Trust, Broughton, Vic, who sold 165 Merino ewe lambs at $130 to SA Jupp, Nhill.
The trust also sold a further 96 at $100 to SA Jupp.
BW&CT Prescott, Pine Hill, Vic, sold 200 Merino wether lambs at $65.50 to A Bennett, Nairel, Vic.
Merino ewes made $60-$94.
Yarrambah Trading, Nhill, sold 321 Merino ewes, 1.5-years, at $94 to McLeod & Borgelt.
SAMM-Merino ewes 3.5-4.5yo sold at $111 to S Kyle Livestock.
Older crossbred ewes made $76-$84.
