Shear success for SA

03 Dec, 2008 03:30 AM
SOUTH Australians topped the Sports Shear Australia Association National Shearing and Woolhandling Championships at Hay, New South Wales, on the weekend.

Shannon Warnest, Willalooka, won the machine-shearing title and John Dalla, Warooka, the blade-shearing competition.

A seven-time national title-holder, with his past six wins in a row, Mr Warnest said he was over the moon with his win.

He shore 15 sheep in 22 minutes, and finished on a score of 100.78, which was 12.47 points ahead of his nearest competitor.
