Industry gets behing Wheat Export Bill

WHEAT industry players have generally welcomed the Federal Government senate committee report into the proposed wheat export marketing bill and the minor amendments made.

But it has not pleased hardline single desk supporters.

The major changes, which will include amendments to improve access and competition at up-country regional facilities and ports, measures for increasing market and price information and accreditation amendments so farmers can export wheat through co-ops – not just export companies – were generally well received.
