Medics save $1500/paddock

10/10/2008 4:00:00 AM
INPUT savings of up to $1500 a paddock have been achieved at Neville Kernich's Freeling farm through the use of Cavalier and Silver Snail medic.

Neville, who farms with wife Bronwyn and parents John and Pam, runs a 700-hectare property mostly dedicated to cropping, with 350 Merino ewes run as a self-replacing flock. He grows durum and bread wheat, malting barley, peas, beans, canola and medic and oats for hay. Cavalier medic is grown as a seed crop.

Neville started growing Cavalier five years ago - recommended by Rosewothy Rural Supplies - because of its high seed and dry matter production.
