MINISTER for Water, Penny Wong needs to "come clean" and explain how she is going to spend the $5.8 billion she has promised for upgrading irrigation systems, says the Opposition's spokesman for water security, John Cobb.
There was no costing in the budget papers of the $5.8b component of the government's Water for the Future plan, despite much anticipation from farmers the budget would help clarify how much would go to on-farm works and whether savings would be shared equally between the environment and irrigators.
