AGRICULTURE is going through one of its most challenging periods but still offers plenty of opportunities, according to former South Australian Farmer Federation president Wayne Cornish.

"Agripolitics over the last decade has done it tough right across Australia," he told the conference.

"It's very dificult to have very vibrant and well resourced farming organisations.

"Seeing organisations diminished in their capacity is something we all have to be concerned about.

"Nothing is more important than having that leadership behind farming organisations, to generate policy."

Mr Cornish predicted 30 per cent of industry participation would "fall out" over next two years .
