Set up for summer - good rainfall across Qld

12/10/2008 7:22:00 PM
With the southern States suffering severe drought, Queensland farmers and graziers are in an enviable position, with good falls over the weekend setting up many areas for the season ahead.

However, the rain is also playing havoc with farmers in the midst of harvesting winter wheat crops.

According to the Bureau of Meteorology, some parts of the Central Highlands and the Central West have received between 50mm and 100mm of good soaking rain in recent days.

Most of the rest of the State has received between 10mm and 25mm.

According to the Weather Company, cloud covering much of central and southeastern Queensland in humid air east of a trough is still generating patchy light rain and thunder.

The rain is mainly in the southeast tonight, while patchy cloud in the northeast is causing isolated showers.
