IRRIGATORS are angry about a lack of priority given to the Murray Darling Basin in last week's Federal Budget.
South Australian Murray Irrigators chairman Tim Whetstone said the budget was "lacklustre" on water-security issues.
"We have been calling on the Federal Government to speed-up the National Water Plan and aid the irrigation sector," he said.
"The Budget announcements showed no priority for the Murray Darling Basin or the urgency needed to throw the River Murray a lifeline."
Mr Whetstone said the irrigation sector was firmly focused on gaining more allocation.
"Irrigators feel like they're going to be sacrificed come the irrigation season this year," he said.
"The State Government hasn't come up with a serious plan to help and it's becoming more evident that human critical water needs is its priority."
