Heatwave on the way for SA

Heatwave on the way for SA

05 Jan, 2010 12:56 PM
South Australia could experience heatwave conditions later this week with maximum temperatures expected to peak in the mid to high 30s between Thursday and Sunday.

Unusually high overnight temperatures are also likely for Adelaide through this period while further inland, temperatures are expected to reach into the 40s, prompting an Extreme Heat Watch for South Australia from the State Emergency Service and the Bureau of Meteorology.

“Temperatures this weekend in Adelaide could be well above the official forecasts as a very hot air mass drifts south from the western interior,” Weather Channel meteorologist Dick Whitaker said.

“It is possible Adelaide will hit 40°C each day from Friday to Monday.”

Since when has mid to high 30's been heatwave conditions??? High 30's to low 40's is over the old ton and is hot. Yet again we seem to have dumbed down a mark or standard so that it can be sensationalised. Stop being soft, get on and enjoy a traditional SA summer, warm and fine.
