 Bush anger over Turbines

Bush anger over Turbines

8/05/2008 8:09:00 AM
PASTORALISTS are demanding to be paid compensation for land used in a proposed $2 billion wind farm development in the Western Division of New South Wales.

The Silverton Wind Farm Development, 25 kilometres west of Broken Hill, could potentially power 500 turbines, providing about 1000 megawatts.

In South Australia, one wind turbine on-farm can earn a landholder $5000 or more annually.

The largest of its kind in Southern Hemisphere, the Silverton Wind Farm Development could supply environmentally-friendly electricity to about 400,000 homes.
