Ag sector set to stay strong

SOUTH Australia's agricultural sector is likely to remain strong despite the global financial crisis and challenging seasonal conditions, according to ANZ state agribusiness manager for South Australia, Northern Territory and Western Australia Stephen Radeski.

"We have a good capacity to continue to lend to our customer base at the moment," he said.

"Some individuals have constraints within their business, but as a whole, the sector remains relatively strong."

Mr Radeski remained upbeat about the outlook for SA farmers.

"We're confident about the strength of the market, although in the irrigation sector some hard decisions will have to be made," he said.

"We believe there's real opportunities for those players who want to move forward in agribusiness."
