In what was the first sale in the west after the mid-winter break, the market in Fremantle yesterday mirrored the results of Tuesday's sales in the east.

According to AWEX, the western indicator fell 22c/kg to close at 818c/kg, while the northern indicator lost 1c/kg to stand at 880c/kg, and the southern indicator gained 1c/kg to close last night at 813c/kg.

Across all three markets there were 20,967 bales offered, of which 21pc were passed in.

All three centres are due to sell again today, with 22,594 bales catalogued for auction.
