Community campaigner Rob Drew has been pre-selected to represent The Nationals in the Lyne by-election.
The Nationals Leader Warren Truss said Mr Drew would run a local campaign on local issues, such as working to secure local jobs, and increase roads and health funding.
Mr Drew is married with two adult children, and has a background in small business and local government over 20 years living on the New South Wales Mid North Coast.
"Rob Drew will be a strong local voice for the people of Lyne who will make sure the Rudd Labor Government cannot ignore this area," Mr Truss said.
"He's a man of action, not just words.
"He's genuine and he brings experience and a strong track record of delivery to the job.
"That track record includes a proud history of community service through local government, charities and service organisations."
The Lyne by-election was triggered by the resignation of former Nationals Leader and Deputy Prime Minister Mark Vaile.
Mr Truss said the by-election provided voters with the opportunity to send a clear message to the Rudd Government to honour its election promises to tackle skyrocketing living costs, fix the health system and govern for all Australians.
